It was in development for awhile this reply. I didn't have a majority of the music so I was scrambling to catch up. I was worried I would miss my opportunity to comment seeing as it's the end of July but the gods of procrastinating have been kind to me. So goes June.

Sigur Rós -Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust

It's poppy! That surprised me. But running short on pop melodies that crescendo only to find a made up language's words being (can we even really say this) sung is not something Sigur Rós will ever have to worry about. I'm not saying they don't vary their technique to song writing enough to create new sounds on records, but instead they vary mood with nuance and an attention that I truly appreciate

**** 4 stars!

Air France (I'm waiting on...)

Shearwater -Rook

For all the glitz and glamor Pitchfork elected to surround 'Rook' with I immediately made my mind up that this record must do more than other records to please me (sorry Pitchfork can drive me crazy sometimes ahem The National anyone). So as hard on this record as I was being of course repeat listens have allowed for just a handful of tracks to jump out at me. "Century Eyes" has an awesome way of trudging along and using sound-space in a similar way to Spoon. If only I liked the frontman's croon more...

** & 1/2

Fleet Foxes -s/t

I really liked this record. It sounds so simple, but like My Morning Jacket the creative effort is hidden behind the elegance of their execution. These people can play some damn good tunes. I really enjoyed the pop sensibility of "white winter hymnal,' and the lushness that surrounds the lead singer's voice in "quiet houses."

Tilly and the Wall -O

No luck finding this one. rah rah rah

The Notwist -The Devil, You + Me

A moody record that I need to listen to more. The songs build so slowly I got impatient with them sometimes. I think that's because I like the Notwist so much that I want there sophisticated songs to envelop me as the listener without all the required waiting. Still some damn solid work. "boneless" and "good lies" are both amazing songs in and of themselves.

Wolf Parade -At Mount Zoomer

A friend of my 'slipped' this album into the rotation of music I was listening too about 3 weeks ago and I got into it right away. I didn't have that reaction with their last record because the cracking yelp of the lead singer was driving me crazy. But the waltz like movements in some of the songs makes me want to dress up in some sort of tux and dance choreographed to the synth sounds. "fine young cannibals" rocks like an 80's new-wave single (although it's 6:34 minutes long) and if "kissing a beehive" was like only the last 3 minutes instead of 10 and just ran with my love for that good ol' synth of theirs, I would give it some all-star credit for an indie party time to dance song.
