I too vote for Chicago. Not only do I really miss it, but it has a big community of graduate students, which is good because it gives you people to relate to, as well as a large population of young professionals, which is good because not everybody who you meet is a graduate student. I think a big reason why a lot of people from out of state feel lonely in Madison is because the only people they know in town are their fellow students, and, therefore, it can be very hard to get away from school. You know so many people in Chicago that you'll always be able to get your mind off of your studies if you so choose.
