just finished "The Shape of Things to Come; Prophecy and the American Voice" by Greil Marcus and just wanted to say that reading a greil marcus description of just about anything is better than experiencing the thing itself.
reading greil marcus is always about making connections which he sees more clearly than other people.....down the line you might think they are hopelessly tendentious but in the meanwhile they make you smarter...
