I like your streamlined approach to reviewing this time around April. So if you don't mind I too am adopting this technique for my review(s) of some Feb-favorites.

Mountain Goats "Heretic Pride" -agreed good

Balmorhea "River Arms" -somewhat agree okay, but maybe a little too much okay.

Ahhh -nevermind about the short takes.

damn.

Beach House "Devotion" Now I couldn't get into this record when I first got a copy. I really liked their self-titled record a whole lot and anyone who's heard the song "Master of None" from that album would've come back for more and more just like me. So this new one continues the dirges and they just seem like they're playing the same song over and over. Then all of a sudden it was all making sense. They do have a singular idea. They do want to catch you listening for the same things. They do have me loving the idea that shoegaze isn't dead. So I'm totally in...

Samara Lubelski "Parallel Suns" Gorgeous freak-folk

Destroyer "Trouble In Dreams" Another strange but intriguing effort from the crazed songwriter. Slowly getting into this one.

The Magnetic Fields "Distortion" Why not? It's awesome. And I'm hooked on guitar feed-back right now.

Speaking of which...

The Raveonettes "Lust Lust Lust" I can't stop thinking about how sinister this record sounds and considering how much it talks about love, it's such a perfect match. Discredit the Jesus and Mary Chain approach all you want, I mean I don't discredit the John Hancock because it's not the Sears Tower. I don't discredit the Chrysler Building because it's not the Empire State or the AK Riley Building because it's not the Omaha National Bank Building.

Also, FYI April Liam Finn is playing with Laura Veirs in Omaha May 11th at the Slowdown Jr.

ps your blog rules. Keep adding the pics and keep rocking hard.

you know, I almost put the Raveonettes in the "pretty good" category, but then second guessed myself. I think I need to listen more to really know what I think of them.

thanks for the heads up about Liam Finn at the slowdown!
