belly of a mountain

did any of you go to the sparklehorse show at the high noon last night? I was not very impressed, but I can't even really put my finger on what it was that was disappointing. The music was flawless and the instruments were perfectly balanced. It may have been a bit too clean - like they might have just been playing the cd through very loud speakers. anyway, it wasn't memorable at all.

I'm getting really bored with all of the pretty-good-but-not-great music out there. really bored. my measure of whether music is really good or not is based on whether I find myself daydreaming about being in the band while listening, and that hasn't happened in a while.

yup I think you hit it on the head April. I was not so impressed and yawn, not to excited. But it was something to do? His hair blowing in the breeze was really funny too.

Yes kind of middle center. Sorry I should of known to say something ahead of time but I assumed we'd just bump into each other there, and then the High Noon was a bit crowded. Next time, next time. Neko Case is performing in (ahem) April but I know it takes a lot for female artists to excite you. Also, Yo La Tengo in the same month. Until then........ have you heard the Menomena album? And did you listen to the acoustic Kevin Barnes' song I sent you?

despite the fact that she's female, I LOVE Neko Case (see my top ten of 2006!). where's she playing? I checked pollstar.com and neither neko case nor yo la tengo appear on there - yet. yes I've heard the menomena album (see my january album reviews). and yes, I did listen to the song you sent me...and genuinely tried to like it..

April you're right I didn't do my research. I do remember your 2006 top ten list and your confession that Neko made it was a surprise. Also, I forgot you mentioned the menomena album as one of your 2007 'goods.'

For the annoucments (drum roll)))

and I'm glad you Genuinely tried to like it.....we need to argue taste.

Some corrections: taste...I meant tastes. Tastes sounds more like we would be attempting to impress upon each other (which is at least mostly correct). Other correction: announcement should be spelled with an e after the c.

thank you for your patience.
